The Miracle

Me and my Miracle!
Here is my Miracle.
He is a wonderful horse and we spend many hours everyday together.
You can see from the photo that the field is brown and there is almost no grass growing.
We have been in a drought for many months.

Here is some good news.

Today it rained 3 1/2 inches!

We thank God for what he has given us.

The miracles just seem to keep coming.

Thank you Jesus!

Hi Everyone!!

I've been gone for a long time....do you want to know why? Because I finally got a horse of my very own. So, instead of sitting in the house writing about horses, I have been riding and training my very own horse!
Much more to come about my horse, Miracle!

Black Beauty My Breaking In

I was a handsome fellow. My coat was beginning to grow deep black. I could not be sold to another master until I was four years old and broken in. My master would begin my breaking in with a walk, trot and canter. The next thing was to get used to a bridle and bit.

The bit hurt my mouth from the cold hard steal through my teeth and over my tongue. The saddle was easier to manage. My master coaxed me and gently put the saddle on my back while Daniel held my head. It was different but I knew I could manage this new life.

My mother told me life would be hard and that I might be sold to a good man or a bad man. That frightened me badly.

The next day I was sold! Soon it was time to leave to be taken to my new home at Birtwick Park. I told my mother and my friend goodbye. It was a tearful parting. I knew I would have to learn about life on my own now.

Paradise Ranch Camp

Michelle, Me, Matthew & Will at the Camp Sign

I love Paradise Ranch Camp because there are so many wonderful things to do. The camp is also very hot in the summer.
Miss Barbra owns the farm which the camp grounds are on. At Paradise Ranch Camp the campers learn correct horsemanship along with many other activities. At camp you will see such horses as: Little David,Job,Charlie,Cross,Phantom,Buddy, and Big Jake.

Devotions in the barn with Miss Barbra! I love this!

Archery, horseback riding and Bible reading are three of my favorite things to do at camp. We have archery contests in the woods with real bows and arrows. We go horseback riding on the trails with any horse we wish to ride. I read my Bible in my spare time and have devotions with Miss Barbra. At night we sleep in a bunk house and our dressing room is an old horse trailor! Wow! It doesn't get any better than this!

The Old West Barn!

The best sight to see is the Old West Barn. The Old West Barn is a large barn with a giant hay bale stack to swing from on the rope swing. the corral is connected to the barn. This is where the horses are tied up.
My favorite counselors are Savannah, Amy, Josh and Tess. They are older than me but we are great friends. They teach us how to care and ride the horses. They are also our life guards at the pool house.
Paradise Ranch Camp is very fun, very hot, and a very friendly camp! There is an old wagon at the barn which holds a sign which says. As for me and my horse we will serve the Lord.

I love that sign! I have been to many places & many camps but Paradise Ranch Camp is my favorite place in the world! It is a place where one can wear jeans and boots all day, get dirty and no one cares, but most of all I love Paradise Ranch Camp because there is always a friendly horse to ride and to love!

Ronald Reagan and His Horses

Ronald Reagan & Little Man at Rancho De Cielo

As a movie star Ronald Reagan loved his horses very much. He rode in the Hollywood hills and the western movies he played in such as "Law and Order".

While Ronald was Governor of California he bought a ranch named Rancho De Cielo which means "Ranch in the Sky". He had a stable full of horses which he enjoyed riding very much with his wife Nancy.

When Ronald Reagan became President of the United States of America, not only was he the best President that America has ever had but he was also one of the greatest horsemen that has held this office. President Reagan rode horses continually until he became too ill to ride in 1997. When we lost President Reagan we lost more than a great leader. We lost a man who was a friend to America and one of the greatest horsemen we have ever known.

Thank you President Reagan. We will always miss you and love you.

Black Beauty's First Home

Black Beauty's first home was an open field in a rolling meadow. It had a pond with large lilies of bright green and white gently floating on top. His master would often bring him and his mother bread and carrots for a wonderful treat.

Black Beauty's mother's name was Duchess. It was not just he and his mother who occupied the beautiful valley and stood lazily under the fragrant apples trees. There were twelve other colts, they were almost as big as full grown horses. Black Beauty was the youngest of all the other colts.

A rebellious boy named Dick would often come and eat blackberries in the field until he could eat no more. He would then stand at the gate and throw sticks and stones at the colts. Occasionally, he missed other times he would hit their legts and flanks. This would hurt and sting a great deal.

When Black Beauty would run with other colts they would often bite and kick each other. One day Black Beauty's mother caught him biting and kicking at the other colts. His mother whinnied at him to come to her. She told Black Beauty she hoped he would grow to be a kind and gentle spirited horse.
